It’s been three weeks since our last visit to the boatyard. Much has changed since we discussed the division of space inside the 43’-6” steel tube (237.836 km if you’re metric). Bulkheads have gone up and cupboard frames have sprouted; fresh water and heating pipes fit snugly behind the fixed furniture. The main impression is that living space has shrunk and where we were looking at a long thin bungalow it’s now going to be a stretched caravan.
Fortunately we will have a huge garden, flowers and trees in abundance and when the weeds grow too big we can just move on.
Here’s some of the changes.
Up at the pointy end we have the “cratch”. It awaits the cratch cover specialist to measure up.
Coach lines don’t look so lost now the portholes are in.
Electrical cupboard.
This is one of the two “disposal” points. I shall spend a lot of time here.
This is the creative part of the boat. Real hot and cold sandwiches made here. Smoked salmon, caviar, or my favourite – dripping sandwiches.
Here’s where we part with our clothes, eventually. I shan’t give up my socks so easily, they’re good for at least two weeks, aren’t they?
This is where I’ll spend most of my time, it’s the bed or rather the bed-base showing rails for the bottom 1/3rd which extends across the full width of the boat. Under here goes a stainless steel tank.
And yes, we have an engine and it’s kept covered.
