by jakepithf @ 2005-07-26 - 20:37:49

Balmaha's progress to date:-

Sprayfoamed and trimmed ready for lining out. The next stage inside is applying the roof T&G and side walls in ash faced panels.

Paintwork has started with 4 layers of undercoat, each rubbed down before the next coat. Final colour will be a dark green (Mason's paint)

...and the stern paint bands go on with the first trial coat for approval
Looks like salmon pink but its a golden yellow in real life.

Narrowboat build - progress at last

by jakepithf @ 2005-07-08 - 19:59:47

Things are happening at the fit-out stage.
Its a long process filling all the external shell defects before painting and sealing the internal steel sections with silicone before sprayfoam is applied.
Apparently moisture moving through open box sections can stain the finished T&G hardwoods fitted to the cabin and needs isolating before foam is applied.
This piccy shows the wood fillets inside the boat, screwed to steel sections prior to application of sprayfoam insulation.
Next - the engine has been ordered and is undergoing pre-delivery trials.
Meanwhile the debate over continued use of red diesel continues. Politicians want to class this as pleasure craft rather than our home.
We shall see......
